SENIOR LIVING Facilities

Seniors are living longer and healthier than ever before. But, half of us will eventually need someone to help us with our normal activities of daily living. Fortunately, many new options are available — housing with services and assisted living are the most popular.

To quote AARP, "Todays philosophy of senior living emphasizes personal dignity, autonomy, independence, and privacy. The objective of assisted living is to maintain or enhance the capabilities of frail older persons so they can remain as independent as possible in a homelike environment."

Our senior living facilities offer a comfortable home-like atmosphere, security, and a variety of accommodations — from private rooms to studios and larger apartments. Some include a full kitchen, others a kitchenette, even though most residents prefer to eat in the common dining room. We provide nursing care options and support services for residents that may need help with bathing, dressing, remembering to take medication, etc., with assistance available 24-hours-a-day. Social and recreational activities, and transportation for medical appointments and shopping is also available.

Housing with services and assisted living residents have a shorter time in the nursing homes. But, they are not for people requiring 24-hour skilled nursing care or ongoing medical monitoring. For those residents, who eventually need more care, our long-term care facilities would be the next step. These are also a part of the Paynesville Area Health Care System; this allows us to offer a variety of senior living arrangements.

The Paynesville Area Health Care System offers housing with services and assisted living options:

• 700 Stearns Place, located on our main campus — or —
