Hospital Board meeting June 26, 2002

The Paynesville Area Hospital District Board of Directors took the following actions at their meeting on Wednesday, June 26.

• The board acknowledged the closing of the purchase of two homes from the Good Samaritan Society, which was finalized on Tuesday, June 25. The Paynesville Area Hospital District purchased the Good Samaritan Care Center in Paynesville and Hilltop Good Samaritan Center in Watkins.

• The board received an update from its CEO Search Committee. (Current CEO Willie LaCroix plans to retire in December.)

The hospital district's consultant has received 187 applicants for the position and is screening these. The search committee will look at the top five. The final two candidates are expected to visit Paynesville in August to interview, tour the facility, and meet the physicians, department heads, and staff.

• The board approved nursing home privileges to Litchfield doctors Janell Haiwick, Timothy Peterson, and Anita Strei, who all have patients at Hilltop in Watkins.

• The board approved a change to its Medical Staff Rules and Regulations. The rules now allow for a medical history or physical examination to be done up to seven days before anesthesia is used, which is the national standard. Previously, all history and exams needed to be done within 48 hours of anesthesia.
