LTC Director of Nursing – Koronis Manor
 
JOB FUNCTION:

Responsibility and accountability for administrative direction and management of entire nursing department; in accordance with the requirements of federal and state regulations for nursing home. Organizes, directs and evaluates all activities of Nursing and Activities departments. Teamwork, customer service and performance improvement are important responsibilities of this job. Individuals are expected to meet the performance standards established for these responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Graduate of accredited school of nursing, BSN is strongly recommended with a Masters Degree in Nursing, business or management preferred.
  2. Valid RN license in the Minnesota – CPR certified
  3. Excellent management skills or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience in a long term care facility including MDS.
  4. Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing to complete required nursing documentation, and respect for the principles of resident rights, confidentially, EEO and ADA.
  5. Five years of increasing responsibility in nursing, including three years as a Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager, or Director of Nursing, including senior nursing administration experience and previous clinical experience working with physicians, committees, and departments.
  6. Must have the ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with little direct supervision in planning and organizing work; and to judge the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems.
  7. Strong computer skill set.

Essential Functions:

  • Determines staffing levels and monitors for adequacy in provision of nursing care.
  • Rounds on unit at least once daily and frequently; all shifts.
  • Performs recruitment and hiring of both licensed and non-licensed personnel.
  • Monitors job performance of the nursing staff, completing performance evaluations, recommending employee promotions and terminations, directs staff rotations and reschedules personnel to meet increased or decreased nursing service demands.
  • Develops nursing service objectives, policies and procedures and directs the implementation of these objectives.
  • Monitors Federal and State guidelines and requirements and revised Departmental procedures accordingly.
  • Recommends in-service educational programs geared to the specialized needs of geriatric patients. Monitors on-going staff development programs for all nursing personnel.
  • Functions as a liaison between the residents, their families, staff and the general public, responding to inquiries and providing information on nursing care and services and may screen prospective residents to assure that staff has the ability to provide the care needed.
  • Assures that there is compliance with the regulations pertaining to care plans and resident assessments and monitors the quality of care provided and assists in the assessment process for admission to and exit from unit.
  • Prepares departmental annual budget and maintains the operation budgets for personnel and equipment and makes budget recommendations as to purchase.
  • Strives to provide continuity of care and maintain employee morale and motivation levels.
  • Overseeing and implementing infection control policies, procedures
  • Manage payroll unit process.
  • Ensures that annual competency evaluations and performance reviews are completed in the appropriate time frame
  • Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Company's Code of Business Conduct, its policies and procedures, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.
